A useful post by Dr. R. Scott Clark discussing the relationship of devotional life to academic study in seminary and some false assumptions often made.  He makes the important point that while memorizing Greek and Hebrew paradigms may take up a substantial amount of time and there may be less devotional time as a result, but it is important in preparation for future ministry and service in the local church so a dichotomy shouldn’t be made between academic studies and devotion, making academic studies appear to be a dead orthodoxy:
